What is Yin?

Yin is known as Earth Yoga or the Yoga of Flexibility.
All postures are done close to the earth in stillness.
This style of yoga concentrates on the hips, low back and sacrum in the human body.
Yin Yoga helps balance busy, fast paced life by training humans to slow down and let go.
By holding the postures and relaxing the muscles the stretch reaches deep into the connective tissue.
Yin Yoga works into the joints of the body where the bones are connected by ligaments.
Ligaments are super strong tissue, therefore it is necessary to hold each posture for a minimum of three minutes in order to create any change.
Many things may occur during this holding, such as emotions, memories, thoughts and sensations.
By not reacting to these things humans are given an opportunity to cultivate deep inner peace, concentration and connection to oneself.
After practicing Yin Yoga it is not out of the ordinary to feel deeply relaxed and energized, all at once.
With continuous practice it’s common to experience better sleep, less irritation and more ease in inevitably stressful situations encountered in normal human life. Namaste~ Lynne
